Meet Our Pastor

Rev. Anna Mulford

Rev. Anna Lee Mulford was born in Seoul, Korea. She moved to Argentina with her family in 1971 where she spent her elementary and middle school years, and moved to the United States in 1980. Her multicultural experience has given her the privilege of speaking Korean, Spanish and English.

After graduating from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, she went on to earn her Master’s degree in Social Welfare from U.C.L.A. One of the highlights of her graduate school experience was being an exchange student at the University of the Philippines while doing research on “street children” in Manila. After graduation, she became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and worked primarily with high‑risk abused children and youth in residential treatment centers.

In 2000, Pastor Anna received a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. She was ordained as an Elder in 2003 and has served four local churches: Ventura First United Methodist Church, Fillmore First United Methodist Church, College United Methodist Church of Ventura and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Oxnard.

Since 2015, Pastor Anna has served as adjunct faculty at Claremont School of Theology Field Internship Hybrid program. In this capacity, she has also helped students develop Cross‑Cultural/Cross‑Racial awareness and competency in ministry.

She served as the Registrar and Co‑Chair of the Board of Ordained Ministry, Secretary and Vice‑Chair of the National Association of Korean American United Methodist Clergywomen. She is the Chair of the Hispanic Ministry Committee of the North District. Since 2020, she became the Chair of the Order of Elders serving in the Board of Ordained Ministry.

Pastor Anna and her husband, also a pastor, love to travel and try different cuisine.                                                 She enjoys reading, K‑drama, and all things craft (knitting, crocheting, amigurumi, quilting, sewing, etc.)

Director of Music Ministry 

ORGANIST/PIANIST/ACCOMPANIST


  1. Written application and resumé, video (with sound) performing a short piece on either organ or piano, and interview.
  2. Professional competence on both organ and piano.
  3. Professional competence demonstrated at:
  4. An audition consisting of one prepared organ piece; one prepared piano piece; one prepared church hymn; one prepared choir accompaniment piece; sight-reading a church hymn and one accompaniment piece.
  5. One choir rehearsal.
  6. One worship service (paid at regular rate).
  7. Education and/or experience in liturgical music for church services.
  8. Ability as an accompanist for choirs, instrumental groups, and soloists, using classical, modern or ethnic liturgical music.
  9. Ability and readiness to follow the direction of the Pastor.
  10. Possess a theological orientation compatible with that of the United Methodist Church.



DUTIES:

  1. Provide musical accompaniment for all worship services.
  2. Rehearse weekly with the Chancel Choir for Sunday worship services.
  3. Receive supervision from the Pastor.
  4. Coordinate with Music Director, Pastor, and Worship Committee to provide own music for preludes, offertories, and postludes.Music selections will be coordinated with the theme of the worship service.
  5. Attend monthly meetings with the Pastor, paid staff, and a Staff-Parish Relations Committee representative. Attend monthly meetings with Pastor and Worship Committee to plan the next three months of church service.
  6. Play for other special services or events including but not limited to, Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday.
  7. Play for funerals, weddings, and other irregularly scheduled events, as requested, if available. Additional remuneration will be paid.
  8. Supervise the care and use of organ and piano, and recommend needed repairs to the Worship Committee and/or Music Director.
  9. Attend, if possible, regional workshops for church organists, at church expense.
  10. Spend at least one hour of orientation for use of the Johannus organ, at church expense.
  11. Find organist/pianist/accompanist substitutes when needed, in consultation with the Music Director.
  12. The regular workweek is ten hours, paid at a rate of $30.00 per hour.Work hours will be submitted using the St. Paul’s UMC time sheet.

 

SICK LEAVE:

  1. Paul’s UMC provides sick leave for personal illness, injury, personal disability, and medical appointments. 
  2. Employees receive 40 hours per year, starting at date of hire.Sick leave expires at the end of each twelve-month period.

Sick leave cannot be used prior to the time it is credited at the start of each twelve-month period.

  1. Call-in leave notification is to be made as soon as possible, but in no event later than thirty minutes before than the beginning of their workday.
  2. Sick leave may be used on an hour-by-hour basis.
  3. Sick leave may be used when the employee is required to provide care for children, parent, spouse or registered domestic partner, grandparent, grandchild, sibling or a designated person which will be limited to one per year.

 

VACATION LEAVE:   

  1. Paul’s UMC does not provide paid vacation leave for employees working less than twenty hours per week.Paid vacation leave is not provided for the organist/pianist/accompanist position.
  2. Paul’s UMC provides the organist/pianist/accompanist two weeks of unpaid vacation leave, if desired.It is preferred that the organist/pianist/accompanist schedule their unpaid vacation leave during the period when the Chancel Choir is on vacation (usually July/August).
